Guidance Announcements

 

Attention Juniors and Seniors – The NEACAC College Fair will take place at St. Michael's College TOMORROW, Wednesday, September 21st from 6:30 – 8:30pm and on Thursday, September 22nd from 9:00- 11:00am. Over 200 colleges will be participating, see Amy McArdle for details.

 

The PSAT will be administered on Saturday, October 15th at 7:30am in the gym at Stowe High School. The cost is $20. Checks must be made payable to Stowe High School. See Charlene to register. The deadline for juniors to register is Friday, September 30th. Space permitting, sophomores may register from Monday, October 3rd through Monday, October 10th. There are a limited number of seats (60) so please register as soon as possible.

 

Attention Seniors – UVM will waive their application fee for any Vermont students applying through Early Action Program, with the application deadline of November 1st. (Note UVM uses the online Common Application).

New News:

  • All potential club leaders please report to Ms. Wells' room at 9:30am TODAY, 
  • Jazz Band will meet TODAY, Tuesday, September 20th during block 8.
  • Reminder to club leaders, Club Assembly is Wednesday, September 21st during TA. Be ready to present!
  • The Model UN club will host a meeting for all those interested or planning to take part in the club this year on Thursday, September 22nd during snack in Mr. Dornfried's room. The club will be expanding its leadership structure and all Freshmen, Sophomores and Juniors wishing to hold leadership positions re required to attend. If you are all interested in joining Model UN we would love to see you there!
  • Mandatory marching band practice will take place on Thursday, September 22nd (periods 3 & 4) with a rain date of Friday, September 23rd (periods 6B & 7).
  • Music Lessons – Thursday, September 22nd; A. Infante, T. Hoekstra, W. Cannon & V. Eliasson 8th period.
  • On Tuesday, September 27th Class Election and Student Leadership Election for freshmen will take place during TA.  Candidates must submit a speech to Mr. Maher no later than Friday, September 23rd.
  • Mandatory marching band practice will take place on Monday, September 26th (periods 3 & 4) with a rain date of Thursday, September 29th (periods 3 & 4).
  • On Friday, September 30th, Ambient Photography will be at school to take portraits of each student. Those who wish to purchase a package may do so by paying the full amount to the photographer at the time your picture is taken. Please be sure to fill out all the information on the picture form that is requested. Packages will not be produced for students who do not pay at the camera. All students must be photographed for school student ID cards. In addition – there will be NO props or crazy poses for pictures this year this will be strongly enforced! 
  • Calling all bakers for the 2016 Blue Ribbon Apple Pie baking contest! A special feature to the Stowe Foliage Art on Park this year: This is an Open Entry for any and all bakers (kids and adults will be judged together). More information and entry forms are available in the office.
  • A pair of blue Nike prescription eye glasses has been found, see Charlene in the office.
  • Community Service:
    • Oktoberfest – Saturday, October 1st and Sunday, October 2nd. Volunteers are needed for parking, serving food, working the kid's area, selling pretzels and other jobs. Sign-up sheets are in the office, deadline to sign-up is TOMORROW, Tuesday, September 20th. Attention seniors – this community service is mandatory if you plan on applying for the Stowe Rotary Scholarship.
    • Support our local veterans and community members by volunteering at the 3rd Annual Free Veteran's Day Community Breakfast at Stowe Community Church on Friday, November 11th. Signup sheet in the high school office.

Old News:

  • Cotton Brook Fun Run!! Come check it out. Every Tuesday at 5:20pm runners, joggers, and walkers gather to participate in the Cotton Brook Fun Run. Choose a half mile, 1 mile, 2.2 mile or the ever challenging 5k. It is a great way to improve overall strength and endurance. Meet below the gate in Cotton Brook every Tuesday through late October.

 

FACULTY:

  • Club Assembly will take place TODAY, Wednesday, September 21st during TA time in the auditorium. 
  • Eligibility Check will take place on Friday, September 23rd.
  • On Tuesday, September 27th Class Elections will take place during TA. Grade 9 will also vote on Student Leadership. Candidates must submit a speech to Mr. Maher no later than Friday, September 23rd. TA's with their advisors will meet as groups for elections in the following locations: Grade 9 – Cafeteria, Grade 10 – Library, Grade 11 – Common Area, Grade 12 – Auditorium.
  • Parent Student Teacher Team Meeting will take place on Thursday, September 29th at 4:00pm in the guidance conference area.
  • On Friday, September 30th school picture day a faculty/staff group photo will be taken at 7:45am. promptly. If the weather is good, the photo will be taken outside by the courtyard, if not we will have an alternative location inside. Faculty and staff will be called over the PA system when the photographer is ready.
  • All new faculty and staff please make sure to have your photo taken on Friday, September 30th school picture day. The school photographer will be in the building from 7:30 – 10:00am. These photos are necessary for your photo ID lanyard that must be worn by all faculty and staff for security purposes. All faculty and staff that would like a new photo taken for the new school year or has lost their photo lanyard please also see the photographer between 7:30 – 10:00am that day. Thank you
