Guidance Announcements

2017 – 2018 Program of Studies is now available on the website. On the HS webpage, scroll to the center on the page and click on Program of Studies. Please familiarize yourself with next year's course offerings prior to registration.

Registration for current freshman, sophomores and juniors will be on Tuesday, February 7^th during TA. Please report to your TA location for the important event. There will be a senior meeting about scholarships in the lecture section of the auditorium during this time.

The Haven Scholarship Program application is now available in the high school office. This scholarship is to provide funding to allow a junior class student to work with P.J. Goldberg of CollegeFind services at no cost. Deadline for application is Friday, February 10^th.

The Governor's Institutes of Vermont provides prestigious, fun accelerated learning residencies on college campuses for highly-motivated Vermont teenagers. Applications for institutes are available on line after Wednesday, February 1^st. Deadline to submit is Wednesday, March 15^th. Visit www.giv.org for information and applications.

Guidance Staff will be holding workshops for juniors' afterschool in Ms. Schnee's classroom on Tuesday, January 17^th and on Tuesday, January 24^th. Please bring your laptop.

Stowe High School students have the opportunity to learn more about Gap Year options at the 2017 Burlington Gap Year Fair on Thursday, January 19 from 6:00 to 8:30pm at South Burlington High School. This fair is an opportunity to connect students to volunteer, inter and travel opportunities both domestically and abroad. For more information: www.usagapyearfairs.org

Attention seniors: Deadline for Cap and Gown orders and Diploma information is Monday, February 6^th.

Attention seniors: New England Red Sox Service Scholarship applications are available in the office. Deadline is Friday, February 17^th.

PSAT Scores are now available, see Amy McArdle for a hard copy of your scores.

· Stowe High School is seeking host families for next year's exchange students from China. Families may host for one semester of for the full year. Each family will attend training with Ms. Harris before hosting and will receive a monthly stipend. Contact Ms. Harris for details at mairead.harris@lssuvt.org

· There will be NO Band or Chorus block 4 TODAY Tuesday, January 17^th report to SPP in the lecture section with Ms. Schnee.

· Jazz Band will meet TODAY, Tuesday, January 17^th during block 6.

· Mandatory Full Chorus rehearsal TODAY, Tuesday, January 17^th during block 8. Bring your flashlights.

· Clubs will meet TOMORROW, Wednesday, January 18^th during TA time.

· There will be NO Band or Chorus TOMORROW, Wednesday, January 18 during block 3 report to SPP in Roger's classroom.

· Mandatory Full Concert Band rehearsal TOMORROW, Wednesday, January 18^th during block 5.

· Early release for all students will take place on Thursday, February 2^nd. Students will be dismissed at 11:45. Lunch will be available. Students who take the Wolcott bus home can be dropped off between Stowe and Wolcott on RT 100 and 15. Students who go to Wolcott Elementary need to be picked up by 12:15. We will follow an abbreviated period 1 – 4 schedule.

· The fitness room will be chaperoned and open to all students on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:00 – 5:00pm throughout the month of January. If we have enough interest we will continue to open the room for the remainder of the year.

· Community Service:

o Youth Basketball is looking for a few high school students to assist with the SES basketball program. Practices are afterschool from 3:00 – 4:30pm. Contact Steph Hunt stephaniehunt@me.com.

o The Spruce Peak Performing Arts Center is looking for student volunteers. We look for positive and engaging people to help with putting up poster in our area, usher events, act as lobby greeters and more. For more information contact Derek Pedersen at or call the box office at 802-760-4634.
